Automated Welding

As Pipeline Owners move to building their pipeline systems with higher strength steels such as Grade 550 (X-80) or greater, an automated welding system is required to perform the welding to adequate specification.

Back in 1996 Midwest added an automated welding system to enhance our capabilities and further our ability to meet the needs of our Clients, and we are now among the most experienced operators of such equipment, having used it for over a decade.

Midwest chose the “Veraweld” Computer Control High Deposition Welding System based on the systems ability to endure all types of weather conditions, terrain, pipe configurations, while performing efficiently and cost effectively.

The Midwest Autoweld System has been very successful operating in temperature ranges from +40° Celsius during the summer, to -40° Celsius during the winter.

The inverters, computers, remote controls and cables, shielding gas, welding torches, and the welding shelters, proved to be more than capable of reliable operation under these conditions.

Work has been completed on 36” to 48” O.D. pipeline projects in Western Canada and United States.
