Midwest has been one of the most proactive contractors to further the employment opportunities of local and Aboriginal persons in the pipeline industry.

Our labour agreements allow a very pragmatic approach for the hiring of local and Aboriginal persons, irrespective of their membership status.  Midwest is well known in many communities in Western Canada as a contractor that provides fair opportunities for local and Aboriginal businesses and employment.

In 1993, Midwest was the recipient of the Ivan Ahenakew Award, which is given for furthering the opportunities of Aboriginal people in Canada's construction industry.

We work with our Clients and the community to identify opportunities for business and employment throughout the project to ensure that all the stakeholders in the project are involved.
